JOHN BOLDT
FOURTH GRADE TEACHER
TRACK & FIELD COACH
I grew up on a small farm about 25 miles from Minneapolis. My three sisters, three brothers, and I all attended school at St. John Lutheran, Chaska before travelling 28 miles every day to Lutheran High School in Mayer. I followed my two oldest sisters to Concordia Teachers College (now Concordia University- Nebraska) in Seward, Nebraska. I’ve been in the same fourth grade classroom on the second floor ever since and I’ve been blessed to share the lives of well over a thousand students over that time.
During my time at Trinity I have taught Sunday School, assisted with youth, gone on 11 trips to Alaska to teach VBS in Tetlin and Trapper Creek, and coached cross country and track. Kids from the cross country team have competed in national meets in 12 different states from Rhode Island to South Carolina, Alabama to Nevada, and Kentucky to Oregon. My favorite part of teaching and coaching is spending time with the kids. It’s great to build relationships and helping them experience new things in God’s world.
In the classroom I like to incorporate personal stories, souvenirs, and photos to try to make the world come alive for the students. Having fun, being creative and silly, and caring about each student while holding them to high standards in the classroom is my goal.
The kids do a “Tree Diary” every fall and work together on a “Farm Project” in the spring. I enjoy our fourth grade family hayrides and field trips to museums, covered bridges, parks, and old canal boat rides where the kids and parents can experience something new and exciting. God put us in an amazing world and I have a lot of fun watching kids enjoy it and share those experiences with each other.
